God’s Answer to the Media Soliciting Assassinations
(Blog 0020 AndrewHadden.com)
I had, of course, noted the assassination attempt on the President, and perhaps much of the executive branch leadership, the cabinet, of our government, all sitting at the same table for the White House correspondent’s dinner recently. I also noted the media figure, Jimmy Kimmel, having more than suggested it just days before it happened. In the context of the upcoming dinner, he said Melania Trump had the glow of an “expectant widow” while talking of the upcoming dinner. (I could not help wondering how hard he had to work to come up with the slightly more palatable explanation of what he was suggesting, to deflect the firestorm that resulted.) I checked the news on Fox, and they had an article, “10 celebrities who have joked about Trump’s death, from Kathy Griffin to Jimmy Kimmel.” I read it – for good reason.
Then it dawned on me that anyone in the media that suggests an assassination of a government official has just offered would be assassins rewards for the act – fame and the approval of the “elite” in the media, and their portion of society in general. So that is a crime, solicitation for an assassin to take out a public official, just as real as making a cash offer to a hit man, an assassin for hire, in a back room somewhere.
Then I noted that the assassin of Charlie Kirk, the famous Christian and political activist, active on college campuses across the country for years, was actually rewarded with that very fame and approval from the “leftstream” media. And many have been merciless toward his grieving widow, the mother of his small children. So, they incite assassinations, and they reward the assassins with fame, and a place in history. It works. And they also like to refer to John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln at a theater, when our president goes to the theater. And they glorify that assassin when they do, and they are basically suggesting somebody carry out the same with Trump.
So, is there a crime committed when someone solicits an assassin? Haven’t we read of undercover FBI agents pretending to be people who will commit crimes for hire, and it resulting in indictments and convictions for conspiracies to commit crimes? How is it that the “leftstream” media can encourage these acts publicly, suggest them, make people sure they will be celebrated if they do them, and it is not treated as a crime? And they, as a group, consistently praise, make famous, and reward those that carry out the crimes they suggest. And, a poll quoted by Charlie Kirk, as support that there is an assassination culture rising, would say that around half of the left supports this behavior.
I got to the point of saying it should be twenty years in prison for this kind of behavior, publicly soliciting people to assassinate one’s political enemies, public officials. Then I realized that God already had mentioned the appropriate penalty in his view. I said that I read the article on Fox about “10 celebrities who have joked about Trump’s death, from Kathy Griffin to Jimmy Kimmel,” for good reason. The good reason was that, as soon as I noticed the article, God said, “Take a look. They’ll all be gone.” God is decreeing not just twenty years, but the death penalty – and he is not inciting anyone else to do it for him. He is the final judge. But we, as a people are also responsible for justice, or God will hold us accountable – so our laws need to put a stop to this. If you can’t yell “fire” in a crowded theater, without penalty, under the Constitution, per the Supreme Court long ago, you certainly can’t do this either.
